What you need
Aprons, pallet knives, a saucepan, baking tray, cutters, bowls, sieve, rolling pins
50g butter
50g sugar.
12 tablespoons golden syrup.
175g self-raising flour.
2 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda.
1 teaspoon ground ginger.
Raisins.
Tubes of ready made icing.
What to do
Turn the oven to 190ºc.
Put the butter, sugar and syrup into a saucepan and stir until melted.While you are doing this sift the flour, bicarbonate of soda and ginger into a bowl. Once the butter, sugar and syrup mixture has melted, slowly add it to the dry ingredients, continue to stir until it becomes a stiff dough consistency. Lightly flour the table and then turn the mixture out.
Roll out the dough using the rolling pins, use the cutters to cut the shape. Add raisins for eyes and buttons. Put your men in an oven at 190ºc (gas mark 5) for around 10 minutes. Take out and leave to cool. Once cool, decorate the men with coloured icing.
You could sing the Gingerbread Man or Head and Shoulders!! Once they have cut out name the different body parts – for example, head, legs and arms.
