You can draw your child a simple plan of your home to give them an idea of the space. This would be hard for a small child to do on his own
I can - Pretend to be a reporter and use a pretend or real tape recorder or microphone to tell people on my pretend TV all about my home

I can - draw six little houses, throw a dice and put the number that comes up on each house door in the right order 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6

I can - point to bricks, breeze blocks, a roof tile, drain pipes etc.

Look at your door in the kitchen. Look at the hinges that enable us to open and close the door.

Homes in the past
Talk to a grandparent or older person. Ask them to show you some photographs and pictures, and talk about their homes when they were young. Did they have a television? Did they have a computer or a mobile phone?

Find a photo or visit a building site. Look at the buildings in progress. Look at the materials, bricks, window frames, doors.
Look at types of homes such as terraced, detached and bungalow.
